Welcome

Jane CampbellIt is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 16th Annual CNSA Winter Congress.  The Congress will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from  25 – 27 July 2013 and will incorporate a wonderful offering of pre-congress workshops, an exciting social program and the opportunity to view the latest innovations in product and drug information from our extensive trade displays.

This Congress is the premier annual event for all nurses involved in the care of the patient with cancer.  It brings together highly regarded, internationally renowned experts in their field who will share their knowledge and experiences. Delegates will be provided with dynamic clinical presentations and workshops aimed at the care of the patient with cancer. I am delighted to announce that Professor Brenda Nevidjon has accepted our invitation to speak at the congress.  Professor Nevidjon is the Clinical Professor and Director, Nursing & Healthcare Leadership, Duke University School of Nursing, US.  She is President elect of the International Society of Nurses in Cancer Care, and a past President of the Oncology Nurses Society.  Professor Nevidjon has devoted her energy to bridging practice settings and academic environments to advance patient care, creating innovative work environments, promoting scholarship in practitioners (including advanced practice), and developing leaders in nursing.

This year will see sessions devoted to the novice cancer nurse, nurses who work in our regional, rural and remote areas, and those who have already reached the level of expert specialist nurses in cancer care.  There will also be, for the first time, the opportunity for some of our allied professional colleagues to join us at this Congress.

We are planning an exciting and dynamic program with a stimulating forum to enable you to update your knowledge and skills in the area of cancer nursing practice.

Brisbane has come of age and is an exciting and vibrant city.  So tag on some holidays, stay in Brisbane and discover the delights of our great city, travel up to North Queensland and experience where the rainforest meets the beach, or into our Outback where you can learn to crack a whip, eat damper or shear a sheep!

We look forward to welcoming you to our great city for a Congress guaranteed to get you thinking!
